Max drag pointer, also know as tell tale pointer as design to record the max reading of the process. The existing gauge pointer carries the red drag pointer around the scale to the peak pressure and stays there.
Indicating pointers are for setting in a specific position on the scale, this is to indicate where the pressure should be reading if the system is set up and working correctly. The pointer on the gauge should mirror the position.
